Christians living in the 21st Century face cultural and political influences similar to those experienced by Christians in the 1st Century. It was common for the people of God to write Statements of Faith, also known as Creeds, to clarify the 'non-negotiable' aspects of their beliefs. The most widely recognized statement of belief is 'The Apostles' Creed.'
In this spirit, Millersport Methodist Church is taking a bold step of faith by documenting the beliefs we hold most sacred. These tenets serve as the foundation of our faith as a congregation. We cherish our Wesleyan Heritage as a Global Methodist Church and actively pursue our church mission to 'make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.'
We invite our community to explore God's Word with us, to ask questions, and seek a deeper understanding of God's trust for us all. You can join our live stream services to engage with us, starting with:
We believe The Bible is the inerrant Word of God, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
Psalms 119:5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2Peter 1:20-21
We believe ALL people are sinners by nature, and thereby under condemnation. We believe that Jesus Christ provides direct access to God for those who repent of their sins, who receive God's gift of grace, and who by faith trust in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Then our sins are forgiven and we are renewed by the Holy Spirit and receive eternal life as Jesus promised.
John 3:1-16; Romans 3:23-24, 6:1-4, 10:9-11; Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 10:23-27;
2 Peter 3:9
We believe that there is one living and true God, externally existing in three persons. We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; in His one and only son Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord; and in the Holy spirit, our guide and encourager on Earth until Christ returns.
2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Acts 1:8-11; Matthew 1:20-21; John 14:16-17, 16:8-11, 3:16
We believe God created the universe and planet Earth as a beautiful habitation for mankind. We believe mankind, God's special creation, was given dominion over earth, to partake of, and govern all its resources wisely.
Genesis 1:1-4, 9-11, 24-28
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal joy of the righteous in Heaven, and the endless suffering of the wicked in Hell.
Luke 16:22-25; Luke 23:42-43, 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, Revelation 22:12
We believe in the personality of Satan and that evil exists in this fallen world, yet Jesus Christ has won the victory for all believers. We believe in a literal hell, a place prepared for Satan and his followers.
1 Peter 5:6-11; Ephesians 2:2; Matthew 25:31-46
We believe this body of believers, Millersport Methodist Church, exists for the purpose of Christian worship, teaching, fellowship, care & encouragement of one another.
Hebrews 10:24-25; Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 23-24; Philippians 2:10-11; Romans 12:1; Acts 6:2-7
We believe all Christians have a scriptural mandate to share their life of faith in Jesus Christ. We believe the only Jesus many will ever see is the Jesus they see in us, making our personal lives the powerful influence for effective Christian witness.
Acts 1:8; John 20:21; Matthew 5:11-16, 28:19-20
We believe a Christian should live for the glory of God and for the well-being of others; that each should be a faithful steward of his or her possessions; and that we all should seek to realize for us and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. We believe each of us worship as part of this body is called to support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
Philippians 3:10; Galatians 5:16, 22-25; James 1:27
